Overview

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced communications professional with the drive to to lead our busy communications and engagement team, with responsibility for delivering all internal, external and digital communications, content and collateral, public and media relations, stakeholder engagement and corporate events.

The successful candidate will be a senior influencer, adept at delivering impactful, evidence-based and ambitious communications and engagement strategies. You will be used to working in a complex system, managing sensitive issues and competing priorities. You will have a demonstrable commitment to collaborative working with stakeholders, as well as a passion for improving communications and engagement to support the delivery of high quality patient care and services.

The Head of Communications and Engagement will work alongside and support the Health Board's Executive Team, and provide relevant advice, guidance and assistance to clinical and departmental service leads across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan., This is an incredibly exciting time to be joining Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, as the organisation continues to grow to meet the health needs of the capital city and surrounding area of Wales.

The Head of Communications and Engagement will support the Director in the strategic management and delivery of a range of highly professional communications services to the Health Board.

The post-holder is responsible for leading the busy, fast‑paced communications and engagement team, providing strategic professional advice and expertise on all aspects of communication, staff and stakeholder engagement for the Health Board. The role requires the candidate to demonstrate leadership to both the department and within the wider organisation and health care services.

The post holder will develop, deliver and evaluate a range of integrated communications campaigns which reflect organisational objectives, operational priorities and enhance the reputation of the Health Board, reflecting its commitment to public accountability and helping to build public confidence in local health services.

The Head of Communications and Engagement will have enhanced knowledge and understanding of the political landscape and its alignment to health care services, and utilise this knowledge to advise and influence senior leaders across the hospital as well as the local health economy.
