Head of Commercial Property

£550 per day - Inside IR35 - 3 months - East London - Hybrid - 2-3 days on site

I am currently working with a London-based local authority who are seeking a Head of Commercial Property to lead the strategic management of their commercial property portfolio. This senior leadership role will focus on optimising asset performance, driving income generation, and ensuring compliance with governance and statutory requirements.

About the Head of Commercial Property role:
  • Develop and implement the council's commercial property strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Oversee landlord & tenant matters, including rent reviews, lease renewals, and portfolio performance.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Manage budgets and deliver value for money across the commercial estate.
  • Provide expert advice to senior officers and elected members on property-related decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, financial regulations, and council governance frameworks.
About you as Head of Commercial Property:
  • MRICS qualified (or equivalent) with extensive experience in commercial property and asset management.
  • Proven managerial experience - ability to lead teams and deliver strategic objectives.
  • Strong understanding of landlord & tenant legislation and property valuation.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to balance financial, service, and community outcomes.
