Oliver Sanderson is partnering with a top-tier utilities business to appoint a Head of Commercial Management. Sitting within Procurement & Supply Chain, this is a pivotal leadership role overseeing contract governance, compliance, and value delivery across a high-impact supplier portfolio.

You’ll lead strategic negotiations, optimise commercial frameworks, and embed best practice across contract management. Working closely with Legal, Finance, Procurement, and Operations, you’ll ensure robust execution, maximise supplier performance, and support key financial and regulatory goals.

Areas of focus
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Commercial Management Team.
  • Oversee negotiation and delivery of NEC and Construction Act contracts.
  • Drive supplier performance and ensure timely, compliant payments.
  • Embed governance frameworks, tools, and reporting systems.
  • Advise senior leadership on risks, opportunities, and commercial strategy.
  • Collaborate across functions to align contracts with business priorities.
  • Support dispute resolution and ensure compliance in a regulated environment.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven track record in commercial and contract management within infrastructure or utilities.
  • Expert knowledge of NEC contracts and Construction Act compliance.
  • Strong leadership of senior commercial professionals and cross-functional teams.
  • Skilled negotiator with excellent stakeholder and dispute management.
  • Experience designing and implementing commercial frameworks.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related field (RICS desirable).
  • Strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and executive-level communication.

This is a 12-month FTC hybrid role based in the South of England, with some national travel required.
