Job summary

Skyports Infrastructure is seeking a highly skilled Head of Commercial Finance to lead financial strategy and performance across our infrastructure and Drone Services projects from our Kennington, London office, with some remote flexibility and occasional international travel. You will partner with operations, manage budgets, develop forecasts, and oversee project finance, reporting to senior management.

Role description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Commercial Finance to join our dynamic growing international business. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving the financial performance of the business by providing strategic financial insights, managing budgets, and overseeing financial operations related to our infrastructure projects and our Drones Services projects. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial business partnering, excellent financial acumen, and the ability to work cross-functionally with various departments.

This is a full-time role based in our Kennington, London office with some flexibility for remote working and an expectation that there may be some international travel.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partner

• This is a Business Partner role primarily to support the operational teams to ensure they are well equipped to analyze project performance as they provide Drone Services to customers and work to develop Vertiports around the world.
  -Drone Services project accounting - working with Project Managers to account for actual revenue vs budgets and actual costs vs budget to hone project costing and reporting
• Development project accounting - working with Development Managers to prepare budgets, provide cashflow forecast and KPI reporting.

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Lead the financial planning and analysis process for property development projects, including forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals.
• Conduct financial modelling to evaluate potential development opportunities and assess project feasibility.
• Provide accurate and timely financial reports to senior management, highlighting key financial metrics and risks.

Finance Project Management

• Oversee the financial aspects of all development projects, from initial investment appraisal through to project completion.
• Monitor project cash flows, ensuring sufficient liquidity and optimizing financing structures.
• Coordinate with project managers to track costs, revenues, and overall financial performance, addressing any variances or issues promptly.
• Support relationships with project lenders, investors and other financial stakeholders to secure funding, ensure compliance with financial covenants and provide timely and accurate reporting to them.

Strategic Financial Support

• Partner with the operational team to assess new opportunities and contribute to strategic decision-making.
• Work with service providers to obtain relevant tax advice for project specific requests
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support investment decisions, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
• Evaluate the financial impact of proposed business strategies and ensure alignment with long-term company objectives.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks associated with property development projects.
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, standards, and internal policies.
• Oversee internal controls and audit processes to safeguard company assets and financial integrity.

Team Leadership & Development

• This is a role that is expected to grow and will require a willingness to foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial literacy and promote sound financial management across the organization.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.

• Qualified chartered or certified accountant with at least 5 years PQE.
• A strong background in financial reporting and financial accounting, experience of working internationally preferred.
• Strong sense of ownership, confidence in own abilities and decisions.
• Flexible and adaptable with the ability to take action in a very fast-paced environment that has a constantly evolving set of priorities.
