Job summary

A leading aerospace company in Stevenage is seeking a Head of Commercial and Contracts to manage commercial commitments during all program stages. The ideal candidate will have experience with UK defence contracting processes and a strong background in bid and sales positions. Job description

Space Systems provides a diverse portfolio of satellites (Earth Observation, Scientific and Telecoms), spacecraft, Rovers as well as services and solutions to mainly government, institutional and military clients. We are looking for a Head of Commercial and Contracts for the UK to support their team (approx 10 people) for the preparation, negotiation and management of all commercial commitments at all stages from initiation to program end (Bid/ No-Bid, RFP evaluation, proposal/ bidding, contract drafting and negotiation, closing, amending, managing conflicts and problems during performance of contract at prime and subcontract level). This is a high visibility role, supporting the managing director of Airbus Defence & Space Ltd. on all relevant UK specific and national topics and commercial policies.

Responsibilities
  • Translating internal and external requirements into commercial strategy and proposals
  • Identifying and manage commercial risks throughout bid and project phase
  • Providing all necessary commercial inputs and ensure conduct of Airbus approval process before release of the proposal or contract,
  • Acting as focal point for interfaces such as Sales, Bid Management, Legal, Finance, taxes, accounting and others and take relevant contributions to Intelligence offers/contracts into account.
  • Leading the commercial contract negotiations with emphasis on contract terms and conditions (supported by Legal), compliant with internal and external rules, mandates and financial objectives
  • Passionate about managing and developing people
  • Strong experience in a bid, commercial or sales position in global Telecom and/or services sector
