Head of Claims (Operations)
Job Summary
In this key leadership role you will have operational responsibility for all Claims management service teams nationwide. You will be accountable for delivering operational performance targets aligned with NHS Resolutions strategy, supporting the development and implementation of initiatives that generate new business opportunities and drive service innovation.
You will be a strategic and operational leader who excels at leading large‑scale operations, driving performance, and delivering results in a complex and evolving environment. A background in handling personal injury and/or clinical negligence claims is essential; legal or insurance credentials are welcomed but not required.
Responsibilities (What You’ll Be Doing)
- Provide operational and strategic leadership to the Claims management teams and support functions, ensuring delivery of key performance objectives.
- Lead and embed transformational change across the Claims Service.
- Engage with senior internal and external stakeholders on high‑profile matters requiring discretion and diplomacy.
- Identify opportunities for service improvement and innovation, driving continuous enhancement of claims processes.
- Oversee budgetary planning and contribute to financial strategy and resource allocation.
Qualifications (What You’ll Bring)
- Thorough understanding of claims management within a healthcare context, including NHS culture and relevant legislation.
- Extensive experience managing complex and high‑value personal injury and/or clinical negligence claims, including litigation.
- Experience communicating with healthcare providers and unrepresented claimants, often challenging decisions.
- Proven ability to lead large‑scale operations, drive performance and deliver results in a complex environment.
- Capability to plan and execute operational improvement and change initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills with the credibility and presence to influence at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong analytical and decision‑making capabilities.
- High emotional intelligence, resilience under pressure, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Hybrid: Leeds and London offices (working from home or remotely as required).
