About the Role

As Head of Claims Financial Management, you will oversee and optimise the claims functions financial performance, ensuring profitability, cost efficiency and compliance across the portfolio. The role will manage partner agreements, vendor relationships, fraud prevention, motor and property services, and cost-recovery initiatives to maximise value and control.

Ultimately, the role will align claims financial strategy with the organisations objectives, mitigate financial risk, and contribute to sustainable growth and customer satisfaction.

What you’ll be doing
  • Develop and implement financial strategies for the claims function, ensuring profitability, sustainability, and alignment with AXA’s objectives; provide executive with forecasting, analytics, and performance management.

  • Monitor claims financial performance, deliver insights, and implement enterprise-wide reporting to support vendor and partner performance.

  • Lead high-level negotiations and governance of partner agreements and procurement, ensuring value, regulatory compliance, and alignment with corporate strategy.

  • Direct vendor management and partnership development, overseeing performance evaluations, negotiations and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Lead claims fraud management efforts, leveraging detection tools and collaborating with investigative teams to mitigate financial losses.

  • Drive cost optimisation across claims recovery and logistics, and lead efficiency initiatives to reduce expenses while maintaining timely claims resolution.

  • Steward the ESG roadmap for Claims, integrating sustainability into operations and reporting (eg, green motor parts), ensuring alignment with AXA Group standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to embed financial objectives into transformation programs and provide executive-level insights to inform strategic decisions.

About You

Ideal candidate is a senior insurance leader with 10+ years in claims or financial management, and a proven people leader who has built and developed high-performing teams. They have delivered or supported business transformation in regulated financial services, with desirable exposure to digital transformation, and a strong, data-driven approach to decision-making.

  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in claims management or financial management, ideally within the insurance or claims sector, with 5+ years at senior management/leadership level.

  • Degree level business qualification, with commitment to work towards Insurance qualification (APA Personal & Commercial, CII, CIP)

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in design thinking, agile, lean, and business change implementation methodologies.

  • Demonstrate commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and advanced analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proactive, enthusiastic, with excellent communication skills capable of engaging diverse stakeholders and simplifying complex concepts.

  • Confident in challenging existing practices and fostering change, while maintaining effective relationships and working within strict deadlines.

  • Demonstrated success in implementing cost-saving initiatives and financial controls.

  • Extensive experience in managing vendor relationships, partner agreements, and procurement processes.

  • Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing high-performing teams.

  • Strong experience in financial reporting, data analysis, and using financial analytics tools.

  • Experience supporting business transformation or process improvement projects.
