Our purpose-built home on Longleaze Lane will provide residential, nursing and dementia care, alongside respite and day care. With en-suite bedrooms, landscaped gardens, private dining, a cinema, gym and wellbeing facilities, and innovative technology, Melksham Gardens will offer a truly special environment for residents, their families and our colleagues.

Joining a brand-new home is an exciting opportunity to help shape its future, establish high standards and create a positive culture from the very beginning.

RECRUITMENT OPEN DAY

Come and meet the team and find out more:

Wednesday 21st October 10am – 3pm Melksham Town Hall – Council Chamber

Come along to find out more about Melksham Gardens, the Head of Care role and what it’s like to be part of a brand-new care home team. We’d love to meet you!

A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY

Joining a brand-new home is exciting – but it is also different.

Depending on the progress of the home, you may join us during the preparation and mobilisation period or as we welcome our first residents. Your exact start date may therefore be subject to change and could be later than initially anticipated.

As Head of Care, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Home Manager as Melksham Gardens prepares to open and begins welcoming residents. You’ll help bring the care team together, establish effective ways of working and embed the standards, routines and culture that will make Melksham Gardens a truly exceptional place to live and work.

This is an opportunity to help shape the delivery of care from the outset, support colleagues to develop their skills and ensure residents receive compassionate, individualised care that recognises their needs, preferences and choices.

We’re looking for someone who is adaptable, proactive and comfortable with change, with the leadership skills and experience to help turn our vision into reality.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you an experienced Head of Care with the passion to make a difference?

Can you lead and inspire a team to deliver outstanding care to our residents, while encouraging colleagues to develop their skills and always do their best?

As Head of Care, you’ll support the Home Manager with the day-to-day management of the home, helping to ensure that the highest standards of person-centred care are delivered and maintained at all times. You’ll carry out initial assessments of potential residents, develop individual care plans and support residents and their families throughout the process, helping to ensure that each person receives care tailored to their individual needs.

Leading a team of carers, you’ll be responsible for rota planning, employee recruitment, induction and mandatory training, ensuring that residents’ needs are recognised, assessed and met wherever possible. You’ll also monitor and manage individual employee performance, supporting colleagues to maintain high standards and addressing any issues as they arise through the appropriate channels.

As part of a brand-new home, you’ll have the opportunity to help establish care processes, support the introduction and development of new colleagues and build a strong team ethos. Working closely with the Home Manager, you’ll play an important part in ensuring the home is ready to welcome residents and deliver excellent care from day one.

Some days will bring challenges as the home and team develop, but you’ll also have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to a home that residents, families and colleagues can be proud of.

ABOUT YOU

You’ll have previous management experience in an elderly care setting, together with an NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent, and be willing to work towards a Level 4 or 5 Management Diploma.

You’ll have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, with a clear commitment to promoting and developing the highest standards of care. You’ll understand the importance of person-centred care and be confident supporting colleagues to recognise and respond to the individual needs of residents.

You’ll be a positive role model with a natural ability to build positive working relationships. As a supportive and approachable leader, you’ll know how to motivate your team, encourage colleagues to develop their skills and create an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.

Most importantly, you’ll be adaptable, organised and enthusiastic about the opportunity to help establish a new care home. You’ll be confident supporting colleagues through change, building a positive team culture and ensuring residents receive the highest standards of care, compassion and respect.

AND IN RETURN

The Trust is a great place to work. We’ve been providing care for almost 1, years and we’re currently the second largest not-for-profit provider in the UK. Not-for-profit means that we reinvest every penny we make into our residents, colleagues and the care homes we live and work in.

We’re committed to supporting our colleagues to grow and develop, offering opportunities for career progression and training within a nurturing, engaging and rewarding environment.

Here are some of the benefits you’ll enjoy as a valued member of our team:

  • 30 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)
  • A company pension
  • Life assurance
  • Free uniform
  • Free DBS
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
  • Blue Light Card and “My Rewards” programme, offering discounts on shopping, days out, restaurants and much more
