WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in the Edinburgh or Leeds office.

About this opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional, visionary leader to join us as Head of Business Management – a pivotal role at the heart of our technology transformation. In this high‑impact role, you will have a unique opportunity to shape the future of our business, drive operational excellence, and deliver insights that influence decisions at the highest levels.

You will lead a high‑performing team to deliver actionable insights and drive performance across a significant technology portfolio. This includes responsibility for fulfilling business plans for a significant functional business area through effective team management. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering change management plans and for achieving outcomes that support the organisation’s overall strategy.

Reporting directly into the Chief Information Officer with functional teams across the UK and India. You will support executive and board‑level reporting and presentations, and act as a central liaison for Technology Platform Leaders, supporting in resource management, board reporting, financial management, and portfolio management.

You will take responsibility for developing and delivering an approach to strategic planning, developing strategic solutions to long‑term business needs by anticipating complex issues, challenges and opportunities.

You will represent the CIO at Group governance forums and working groups, collaborating across technical teams to shape and influence decisions, present strategic direction, and deliver insights that enable the CIO to run an efficient function. The role also involves supporting the Executive with SMF accountabilities and regulatory requirements (FCA and PRA) and mentoring multidisciplinary teams to foster organisational effectiveness and innovation.

Here’s where you’ll make a difference
  • Manage relationships with strategic internal customers such as our Finance, People, Risk, COO partners. You will act as their business partner and represent the CIO in various forums.
  • Takes responsibility to formally grow capabilities within a significant functional area of the business, whilst also thinking of continuous improvement of processes and governance; whilst personally investing in the growth of own and others' capabilities elsewhere in the organisation through mentoring and other informal methods.
  • Takes responsibility for developing and delivering change management plans and achieving outcomes that support the organisation's overall strategy.
  • Takes responsibility for fulfilling business plans for a significant functional business area by effectively leading a team.
  • Engages with senior Technology Platform Leaders to understand long‑term strategic challenges and ongoing management of Platform performance.
  • Takes responsibility for supporting the CIO IP&I organisational strategy by delivering operational workforce plans across the UK and India.
  • Provides integrated long‑term solutions and strategies for CIO IP&I, e.g., to fulfil IP&I Board Metrics and other KPIs.
  • Takes responsibility for developing and delivering an approach to strategic planning for a key part of the organisation.

What you’ll need
  • Senior leader experienced in managing multi‑disciplinary teams, with the ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders at MD/Exec level.
  • Strong background in regulatory compliance, with in‑depth knowledge of FCA and PRA regulations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience influencing and partnering with C‑suite level executives, and cross‑functional teams across Technology, Finance, Risk, People, and Operations; to understand and solve long‑term strategic challenges.
  • Proven financial and commercial acumen, with ability to connect technology initiatives to business outcomes and shape sustainable strategies across large organisations.
  • Strong data literacy and storytelling, with experience in translating complex data into strategic business decisions, championing innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to develop and deliver change management plans and achieve outcomes that support the organisation’s overall strategy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, with openness to emerging technologies and new ways of working.
  • Strategic thinker, able to translate complex data into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
