Job summary

The Natural History Museum seeks a visionary leader to head the DiSSCo UK Technical Innovation unit, driving AI, robotics and data-led digitisation of natural science collections.

You will build and lead a multidisciplinary team, turn research into practical tools and partner with universities, government and industry, in a hybrid working environment with a fixed-term contract to 31 March 2029.

Qualifications

• Experience turning new technologies into practical products, services or ways of working.
• Strong technical understanding in AI, machine learning, robotics, automation or data platforms.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver complex programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary technical team within the DiSSCo UK Technical Innovation unit.
• Develop partnerships with universities, government and industry.
• Translate research into practical tools and services for research, policy and industry.
• Drive digitisation of collections using AI-assisted transcription, computer vision and robotics.
