Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Accounting to lead and oversee the accounting department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and the smooth operation of the company’s financial processes. This individual will provide strategic leadership to the accounting team, collaborate with senior leadership, and drive continuous improvement in the company’s financial systems and practices.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timely closure for nine UK legal entities.
  • Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring operational efficiency and timely supplier payments.
  • Coordinate audits with internal and external auditors, implementing audit recommendations and maintaining effective internal controls.
  • Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of accounting systems (ERP, financial reporting tools).
  • Partner with senior management to develop long‑term financial strategies and provide insightful financial analysis to support decision‑making.
  • Oversee tax return preparation, stay current on tax law changes, and coordinate with global tax advisors.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital, collaborating with treasury and finance teams to ensure financial stability.
  • Collaborate with other departments (Controlling, Operations, Legal) to provide financial insights and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (required).
  • ACA/ACCA or equivalent accounting certification (required).
  • MBA or other advanced financial qualification (preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in accounting or finance, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing teams, driving performance improvements, and managing audits and internal controls.
  • Expertise in accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS), financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, tax compliance, and corporate governance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling; strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; analytical mindset and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
