Job Title: Head Multi Skilled Engineer

Location: London (SW19)

Salary: £65,000 per annum

Job type: Full Time - Permanent. Working 5 Days per week. Position is 9 hours a day. (occasionally 6 days) (overtime may be required)

We are a busy bakery in SW19 who produce fresh & frozen bread products in fully automated plant, semi-automated and also by hand we pride ourselves on the high-quality products we make on a daily basis. We are looking to expand and want a Head Engineer with long term commitment to help achieve this.

The Role/Responsibilities
  • Fault finding
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Adhere to all policies and practices as requested
  • Working on ovens, mixing bagging and slicing machines
  • Identify parts that are worn or broken to replace with Miller's core suppliers, ensuring comparable specifications
  • Hands‑on approach
  • Multi‑skilled
  • Daily checks and maintenance
  • Someone who can work independently
  • Communication with other staff members
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Organised & proactive
  • Point of contact for contractors when they arrive on site, sign in, complete inductions, health questionnaires
  • Follow up work planning with production, keeping records
  • Keeping up to date with health & safety
  • Document new procedures and schedules
  • Line & machine checks pre‑production
  • Represent the department during external audits
  • Walk the line during production checking parts & machines
  • Motor replacing when required
  • Welding
  • Electrical work & any other duties relevant to the role.
  • Managing a small team of 4
  • Ordering parts & stock control
You will
  • Have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate with a variety of different people
  • Good English & oral communication
  • Experience in the food industry
  • Be self‑driven and motivated
  • Have a sense of ownership and pride in your work
Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous engineering qualification desirable
