Job summary

The Green Man in Harlow, part of Greene King’s Chef & Brewer portfolio, is seeking a talented Head Chef to lead the kitchen, drive quality and consistently high standards.

You will motivate and develop your team, manage food costs and labour, and create memorable dining experiences for guests, with a focus on fresh pub classics and seasonal dishes.

Join us for a competitive salary of £37,000–£41,000 plus bonus, pension, discounts, and staff wellbeing benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a kitchen team at Head Chef level or similar.
• Strong understanding of food costs, budgeting and labour management.
• Proven ability to maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Ability to motivate staff and drive a positive kitchen culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead from the front and coach your kitchen team to deliver high-quality dishes.
• Create and showcase great food that reflects our menu and seasonal specials.
• Own the kitchen operation and ensure smooth service and quality.
• Manage food costs, stock, waste and labour to drive profitability.
• Maintain rigorous food safety, hygiene and compliance standards.
