Job summary

Hungry Horse's The Grandstand pub is seeking a hands-on Head Chef to take day-to-day control of the kitchen, lead from the front and deliver consistently excellent food.

You will manage the kitchen team, own stock control and food costs, maintain high hygiene standards and organise service during busy periods.

Work closely with the General Manager to drive the kitchen and wider pub success, and develop your team to create a positive, high-performing kitchen culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy kitchen environment.
• Confident in leading and developing a team.
• Understands kitchen management, food safety and GP.
• Ability to stay calm and organised under pressure.
• Committed to delivering consistent, high-quality food.
• Energetic, passionate, and personable to unite a kitchen team.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop your kitchen team.
• Manage kitchen standards, food quality and presentation.
• Control stock, ordering and food costs.
• Maintain food hygiene and safety standards.
• Plan and organise the kitchen to deliver great service during busy periods.
• Coach your team and support their development.
• Ensure every guest gets quality and consistency they expect from Hungry Horse.
• Work closely with the General Manager to drive the success of the kitchen and the wider pub.
• Ensure all kitchen procedures, health & safety and food hygiene standards are followed.
• Manage kitchen rotas and ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time.
