Job summary

The Porterbrook Care Home, part of Care Concern Group, is seeking a Head Chef in Sheffield. You will own the kitchen, lead from the front, and deliver high-quality, nutritious meals central to residents' daily life.

Develop menus, manage stock and budgets, ensure food safety and dietary compliance, and lead a motivated, high-performing team while maintaining work-life balance and a stable routine.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading or managing a kitchen.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills.
• Good understanding of dietary requirements and food safety.
• Proactive, reliable and quality-focused approach.
• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent, or working towards Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Lead kitchen operations from menu planning to stock control and compliance.
• Drive team performance and development to maintain high standards.
• Manage budgets, orders and minimise waste while sustaining quality.
• Ensure meals meet dietary needs and are nutritious and well-presented.
• Support work-life balance with a consistent schedule, including alternate weekends.
