Job summary

Barchester is seeking a Head Chef to deliver hotel and restaurant standards within a care setting, with autonomy to design nutritious and flavoursome menus. You will lead a kitchen and front-of-house team, maintaining high service and culinary quality across the home.

You will develop resident-focused menus, manage budgets, and drive ongoing team development. Training and career progression opportunities are available through our academy.

Qualifications

• Warm, personable approach with resident wellbeing in mind.
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
• Experience leading and inspiring a kitchen team.
• Experience with fresh seasonal food and nutrition.
• Able to create a welcoming home environment.
• Confident in engaging residents and crafting menus.
• Experience with front of house setup and service standards.
• Strong HACCP and COSHH knowledge.
• Knowledge of IDDSI diets and training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a kitchen team.
• Develop menus tailored to residents’ needs.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality dishes.
• Bake fresh cakes, scones and breads from scratch.
• Assist front of house with dining setup.
• Maintain budgets, conduct audits and stock control.
• Create a warm, efficient, and fun environment.
• Recruitment and retention of staff.
• Manage performance of kitchen and FOH teams.
