Overview

To provide specialist dietetic care to Head and Neck (H&N) oncology inpatients and outpatients referred to the Head and Neck Oncology dietitians at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and The Royal Surrey Cancer Centre. The post holder will work as part of the H&N Oncology dietetic team sharing responsibility for the smooth running of the service in line with Trust performance targets.

A considerate, patient focused service will be provided in all dealings with patients and with staff around the hospital and throughout the Cancer Network.

The position is a 0.8 wte Band 6 post within the team of 45 dietitians, dietetic assistants and administration at the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist dietetic care to H&N oncology inpatients and outpatients.
  • Provide dietetic support within an agreed caseload to individuals requiring treatment for Head and Neck cancers, including those patients under the care of the Surgical, Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy teams.
  • Deliver the service in outpatient clinics, at ward level and in the radiotherapy unit.
  • Take an active role in teaching other professionals, including students and patients, both as individuals and in groups.
  • Provide high quality nutritional care in face‑to‑face and telephone clinics.
  • Support and gain experience with other specialty teams within the department, working across several multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in research and audit activities to promote clinical effectiveness in patient care.
Qualifications
  • HCPC registered dietitian.
  • Experience and a strong interest in oncology.
  • Desire to develop skills within a friendly and supportive team.
