Ark is seeking a HE Access and University Bursaries Lead in West London on a 12-month FTC. You’ll run the university bursaries programme, oversee applications, interviews, contracts and payments, and support alumni and funders.
You’ll also drive broader post-18 destinations work, maintain university partnerships, and support schools with HE access, ensuring progress towards Ark’s targets in top third HEIs.
Location: West London (with flexible working available)
Contract: FTC (12 months)
Start date: January 2027
Pattern: Full Time (standard hours 9am – 5.30pm)
Interviews: 19/11/2026
Salary: £43,000 to £46,000 (depending on experience)
About The Role:
The HE Access and University Bursaries Lead is a crucial role in supporting the achievement of our post-18 destinations goals. Our aim is to ensure every Ark student progresses to a best fit destination – whether a top university or a high-quality alternative pathway such as a degree or higher apprenticeship – as the key to high rates of sustained destinations and future career success.
The largest part of this role is the day-to-day running of the Ark University Bursaries programme, which provides financial support to Ark alumni at university. The HE Access and University Bursaries Lead will manage the full bursary cycle: from information sessions in schools, through applications and interviews, to termly student contracts, verification and payments, and ongoing support for alumni and funders.
Alongside the bursaries, the HE Access and University Bursaries Lead will keep momentum on our wider post-18 destinations work: maintaining our university partnerships and HE access support for sixth forms, and supporting students pursuing alternative pathways.
The HE Access and University Bursaries Lead will report into the Head of Destinations. This role is currently operating hybrid working in our West London Office on a fixed term basis working full time.
Interviews will be taking place in person on Thursday 19th November 2026.

About Us:
There are 34,000 students learning in our network of 48 schools across Birmingham, Hastings, London, Pontefract and Portsmouth. We’ve always believed that, with the right approach, every child has the potential to succeed. We work in the communities where we can make the biggest difference to children’s lives, and all our schools are non-selective.
It works: our schools achieve great results – significantly outperforming national averages, especially when it comes to driving progress – the best measure for ‘closing the gap’.
We take what we learn in our schools to develop new solutions and approaches that we can share. Over the last two decades, we have developed and incubated more than 20 projects and programmes, supporting them to scale and achieve systemic impact on the life chances of all children. Over 300,000 children currently learn using an Ark curriculum and our Ark Start nurseries are demonstrating a new model for early years education that we hope will become the norm.
Diversity and Inclusion:
We aim to build a diverse and inclusive organisation where everyone – staff and students – can do their best work and achieve their full potential. We want to reflect and represent diverse perspectives across our organisation because we know that doing so will make us stronger and more effective.
