Digital Therapist

The HCPC Clinical and Counselling Psychologists Digital Therapist role is ideal for HCPC Registered Clinical and Counselling Psychologists Chartered with BPS. This position is a vital part of the Spectrum mental health team, delivering evidence-based psychological talking therapies digitally (video, phone, text). You will be responsible for delivering psychological talking therapies, evidence based, high-intensity interventions while adhering to our clinical governance frameworks to ensure effective and safe care.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver Psychological Evidence-Based Interventions
  • Provide high-intensity CBT (HI-CBT) and other structured evidence-based interventions digitally (video, phone, text-based).
  • Deliver NICE-recommended therapies, including:
    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
    • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
    • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
    • Counselling for Depression (CfD)
    • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
    • Behavioural Activation (BA)
    • Mindfulness-Based Interventions
  • Tailor individualised treatment plans based on client needs and NICE guidelines.
  • Adapt interventions for remote delivery, ensuring therapeutic effectiveness in a digital format.
  • Determine appropriate treatment pathways within a stepped-care model.
  • Utilise Spectrum.Life digital platforms to deliver structured psychological therapies.
  • Guide clients in engaging with self-help tools, psychoeducation, and digital therapy resources.
  • Maintain a therapeutic alliance and client engagement in a remote setting.
  • Work within clinical governance frameworks to ensure safe, ethical, and effective digital therapy.
  • Adhere to data protection (GDPR), confidentiality, and safeguarding policies.
  • Engage in regular clinical supervision, CPD, and peer consultation.
  • Participate in clinical audits, data analysis, and outcome evaluations to enhance service effectiveness.
  • Provide feedback on digital service improvements to enhance client engagement.
  • Support the development of mental health tools and online therapy innovations.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral Training: Completion of a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) or Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DCPsych).
  • (DCPsych) accredited by the BPS and approved by the HCPC.
  • Minimum of five years post‑doctoral qualification experience.
  • Proven experience delivering High‑Intensity CBT in IAPT or another relevant service.
  • Experience providing other evidence‑based psychological therapies in line with NICE guidelines (e.g., IPT, ACT, EMDR, BA, CFT, CfD).
  • Experience working within an IAPT or stepped‑care model.
  • Experience working with adults and children 6+ therapeutically.
  • Experience in screening adults and children, assessing risk, and implementing safety plans.
  • Strong digital literacy skills and the ability to adapt interventions for online platforms.
  • Experience using video conferencing software for therapy delivery (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
  • Proficiency in clinical case management systems (CSM) for record‑keeping and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams), email, and internet‑based tools.
  • A clean record with the associated regulatory body (HCPC for Clinical and Counselling Psychologists).
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance, GDPR, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong ability to plan, organise, and prioritise workload efficiently.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) and clinical supervision.
  • Ability to work afternoons and evenings, supporting clients in different time zones if required.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience delivering evidence-based trauma therapies, including:
    • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
    • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT)
    • Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TI-CBT)
    • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
  • Clinical Supervision
  • Experience in delivering remote therapy in digital mental health services
  • Experience working with standardised mental health measures, such as:
    • CBT-Adapted Rating Scale (CBTRS)
    • Generalised Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7)
    • Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9)
