We are seeking to recruit a new Healthcare Assistant/Phlebotomist.We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive HCA to join our busy team.This is an exciting time for the practice and the successful candidate willhave a fantastic opportunity to use their skills to further develop this rolewhilst providing a high standard of care.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care to patients under the supervision of the Nurse Manager
  • Perform phlebotomy, BP checks, wound care, administer injections and vaccinations, diabetic foot checks and health checks and assist with procedures as directed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.

Job responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

The HCA/Phlebotomist will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care, including:

  • Obtaining patient consent for the collection of blood samples
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Height and weight monitoring (incl BMI)
  • Wound care
  • Frailty Checks
  • NHS Health Checks
  • Injections (under PSD)
  • Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
  • Maintaining accurate patient records
  • Checking emergency equipment (defibrillator, oxygen and emergency box)
  • Checking medical equipment
  • Support and participate in shared learning within the practice
  • Cleaning blood pressure cuffs and stethoscopes
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and wellbeing
  • Re-stocking clinical rooms
Person Specification
Experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in a clinical setting, with proficiency in HCA practice and patient care.
  • Experience of working in a GP Practice
Qualifications
  • Qualified in phlebotomy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Care Certificate
