Qualifications

  • Previous experience in hatchery production of Ballan Wrasse, Seabass or Seabream is an advantage.
  • High degree of computer literacy is essential.
  • Drivers licence is essential; support for lessons can be provided.

hatchery RAS Technician Anglesey Basic Salary £27,236 to £33,990 per annum Ability to earn up to 15% of your salary in our annual bonus scheme Overtime available at an enhanced rate

Are you a highly motivated individual looking to expand your aquaculture career? We are currently looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to make a difference at the Company’s Recirculation Unit at Anglesey. Mowi Anglesey is a recirculation Ballan Wrasse hatchery located on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales. The hatchery currently employs 15 full time members of staff to assist in all year-round Ballan Wrasse production. The site comprises of a hatchery, live-feed systems, first feeding tanks, nursery tanks, on-growing tanks and intake seawater sterilisation systems.

If you are ambitious and motivated and want to work with a likeminded team, then this is the role for you. The successful candidate will be required to work 40 hours per week or an average of 40 hours where your shift pattern rotates over more than one week. The successful candidate will also be expected to be part of a weekly alarm rota and will be required to stay on site providing 24 hours call out cover.

About the job

The Hatchery technician role is a crucial part of the operations process and ensures that the best management of our cleanerfish is undertaken. We need our technicians to strive for continuous improvement and deliver on all aspects of farm work to keep the team on track and performing well. The job includes, but is not limited to:

  • Fish husbandry of larvae stages in Ballan Wrasse production.
  • Live-feed production of both rotifers and artemia.
  • Husbandry of nursery and grow-out stages of production.
  • Feeding, grading, vaccinating & transportation of live fish
  • Proactive approach to health and safety practices throughout the hatchery.
Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should have an interest in the aquaculture industry and be willing to learn. They will be willing to expand their understanding and work hard on the job.

  • Previous experience in hatchery production of Ballan Wrasse, Seabass or Seabream will be an advantage, but not essential as full training and support will be provided.
  • High degree of computer literacy is essential.
  • Work flexibly to meet demands of the job.
  • Self-motivated, able to work well in a team.
  • Respect for the need for safe working practices.
  • Drivers licence is essential. No driving licence? Don’t worry, we can help with the cost of lessons.
