Job summary

TLP in Middlesex is seeking a hands-on Interim Transport Manager to lead a fast-paced, multi‑temperature distribution operation. You will own day-to-day transport, develop drivers and supervisors, enforce processes and drive continuous improvement from the shop floor.

The role is initially 6 months with genuine potential for permanency for the right candidate; it requires a CPC qualification, strong knowledge of transport legislation and a proactive, visible leadership style on site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Transport Manager within a fast-paced distribution environment.
• CPC qualification is essential.
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance.
• Experience in food distribution or multi-temperature environments is advantageous.
• Hands-on management style with ability to develop teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop a team of drivers and transport supervisors.
• Own transport operation and implement structure, consistency and accountability.
• Review and enforce transport processes and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and optimise processes.
• Ensure compliance across the operation, including driver and vehicle legislation.
• Build relationships with drivers, supervisors and colleagues across the business.
• Manage performance and address issues confidently and fairly.
• Lead by example on the ground and adapt quickly to challenges.
• Drive continuous improvement in a busy distribution environment.
