Job summary

The Big Cat Sanctuary in Smarden, Kent seeks a Chief Operating Officer to translate the MD's strategy into operation. This hands-on leader will guide across conservation, hospitality, visitor experience and site development, building strong SLT performance.

We require an energetic, visible leader who drives accountability, collaborates across functions, and helps deliver the capital development roadmap through 2029 while maintaining day-to-day operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading large teams across multiple functions is preferred.
• Strong commercial awareness and hospitality mindset are valuable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operational rhythm of the Senior Leadership Team.
• Translate the Managing Director's strategy into clear organisational objectives.
• Ensure clear priorities, KPIs, deadlines and accountability across departments.
• Challenge underperformance and ensure delivery of the operational plan.
• Oversee major projects with budgets, milestones and timelines.
• Monitor departmental performance against KPIs and budgets.
• Drive efficiency, standards and cross-functional collaboration.
• Act as senior operational authority in MD's absence within delegated authority.
