Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a Registrar for the Haematology Team. The six-month locally employed post involves ward care, clinic support and laboratory reporting under consultant supervision, with practical skills in bone marrow biopsy and lumbar punctures.

Applicants must have GMC registration with a licence to practise, and evidence of Core Training or equivalent. Full GMC registration is required to practise in the UK.

Qualifications

• Evidence of completion of Core Training or an equivalent two-year training programme.
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise is required.

Responsibilities

• Care of patients on the wards.
• Assisting in haematology clinics.
• Laboratory reporting.
• Performing bone marrow biopsy and lumbar punctures.
• Supporting Core and Foundation doctors in Haematology.
• Contributing to a multi-disciplinary team approach to care.
• Participating in audit and research.
• Maintaining continued professional development.
• Attending educational and multidisciplinary sessions.
• Teaching medical students, Core doctors and Foundation doctors.
• Complying with local policies, including dress code, annual leave and study leave.
