Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical Haematologist to join Basildon Hospital. This role focuses on delivering high-quality haematology care within a supportive, collaborative team.

The successful candidate will contribute to leadership, attend MDT meetings, and support service development across the Trust, with GMC registration and MBBS/MSC qualifications as key requirements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide continuing responsibility for patients in charge and in partnership with colleagues for the proper function of the department and hospital.
• Attend relevant multi-disciplinary team meetings.
• Undertake administrative duties associated with the care of patients and running of outpatient clinics.
• Collaborate with other haematology consultants to provide a comprehensive service across mid and south Essex.
• Contribute to leadership and development of Haematology services in line with Trust targets.
• Promote interdisciplinary team working across the Trust.

• To contribute to the leadership and development and organisation of Haematology services in line with the Trusts business plans for quality activity and business targets.
• To ensure that all staff work within the trusts framework for corporate governance including standing orders, standing financial instructions and financial procedures.
• To promote interdisciplinary team working between across the Trust.
• The post holder will contribute to effective communication and involvement of staff across the CSU including support to the service manager and Head of Nursing to achieve his objectives.

Qualifications

• MBBS Or equivalent

Research

• Knowledge of the principles of research/audit and ability to interpret and apply clinical research.
• Recent published clinical research in peer reviewed journal.

Teaching

• Knowledge and experience of supervising undergraduates, junior doctors and other staff

Experience

• Comprehensive knowledge in the specialty and ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems
• Evidence of direct involvement in changing service provision.
