Job summary

JD Gyms is seeking a Duty Manager to support the day-to-day operation of the club, helping to maintain high operational standards and ensuring members receive a safe, welcoming and positive experience during every visit.

Working with the wider management team, you will drive membership and commercial objectives while ensuring the club runs efficiently, safely and in line with JD Gyms standards, with flexibility for early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or supporting colleagues in leisure, fitness, hospitality or customer-focused environments.
• Demonstrates commitment to excellent member service and coaching others.
• Must hold Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operational running of the club including opening/closing duties.
• Flexible working hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
• Adhere to Health & Safety policies and company procedures.
• Maintain brand standards and cleanliness; deliver outstanding member service.
• Conduct safety checks daily, weekly and monthly and report any defects.
• Support achievement of membership, revenue and commercial goals.
• Identify opportunities to grow secondary revenue streams.
• Support colleagues and contracted personnel to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
• Represent JD Gyms values in all member and colleague interactions.

Role overview:

As a Duty Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the club. You will help maintain high operational standards, support colleagues and ensure members receive a safe, welcoming and positive experience during every visit.

Working closely with the wider management team, you will contribute to achieving membership and commercial objectives while ensuring the club operates efficiently, safely and in line with JD Gyms standards.

Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for the day-to-day operational running of the club, including opening and closing duties where required.
• Flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends, in line with business needs.
• Ensure that all policies and procedures in both the Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook are adhered to.
• Responsible for adhering to and maintaining the JD Gyms Brand Standard.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks. Report and chase all defects, to ensure the building and its equipment is safe to use.
• Support the achievement of membership, revenue and commercial objectives.
• Identify and support opportunities to grow secondary revenue streams.
• Ensure the gym facility is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
• Support General Assistants in maintaining high cleanliness standards across all areas of the club.
• Maintain professional appearance and uniform standards across the team in line with company expectations.
• Deliver outstanding member service through positive and professional interactions.
• Help create a positive, supportive and engaging environment for colleagues and contracted personnel.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties, projects or meetings as required.
• Represent JD Gyms values and standards in all interactions with members and colleagues.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience leading or supporting colleagues within a leisure, fitness, hospitality or customer-focused environment.
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to delivering excellent member service and has the ability to support, coach and develop colleagues.
• Must be qualified to at least Level 2 Gym Instructor
• Experience contributing to membership growth, commercial performance, local marketing initiatives and team development.
• Experience supporting operational delivery, people leadership and commercial performance within a leisure or customer-focused environment.
