Job summary

A community gymnastics center in Tees Valley is seeking 1 or 2 coaches with a Level 1 gymnastics qualification or higher. Responsibilities include delivering engaging training sessions for all ages, supporting event organization, and ensuring health and safety protocols. Job description
Darlington Gymnastics Club is a large club - with around 700 gymnasts - and we've got a waiting list. To allow us to increase our capacity, we're looking for 1 or 2 extra coaches - ideally Level 2 WAG (or higher), but we're also interested in talking to you if you're Level 1 and ready to move on to Level 2.

Job purpose:

To provide high-quality, engaging gymnastics training session for recreational and squad level groups of gymnasts from all age groups.

As a member of the coaching team, contribute to the development of our service offering.

Key duties / responsibilities:
  • To be involved in the organisation and delivery of a varied and interesting programme of gymnastics activity, which motivates and encourages young people to participate.
  • To support coaches in the planning and implementation of effective pathways that facilitate the retention of gymnasts in all aspects of the sport and allow the identification development of talent.
  • Support the development and delivery of key events and activities held at the gymnastics club such as annual displays and in-house competitions.
  • To follow all Club policies – with particular adherence to Health and Safety and Safeguarding and Welfare.
  • Supervise and co-ordinate the work of, and development of, Level 1, Proficiency level or Volunteer Coaches.
  • To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post.
Essential criteria:
  • Level 1 Women’s Artistic gymnastics qualification, and experience of working as a gymnastics coach.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • An understanding of how to develop gymnastic skills of children participating at all levels.
  • Understand and demonstrate the skills required to ensure effective team working.
  • An individual who will be a positive role model to other young people. Who can inspire and motivate others involved in sport.
  • Willingness to commit to ongoing training – both in house training and external courses.
  • The ability and willingness to work evenings and weekend on a regular basis as per the rota.
Desirable criteria:
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of how to develop gymnasts from recreational participation to development programme and squad levels of performance.
  • Level 2 Women’s Artistic gymnastics qualification.
  • Level 3 Women’s Artistic gymnastics qualification.
