Responsibilities
  • Support patients on the male ward in using gym equipment.
  • Shadow with staff and participate in training on risks and use of alarms.
  • Provide voluntary gym sessions, either one session or multiple sessions per week, depending on availability.
  • Commit to a minimum of 6 months of volunteering to maintain consistency for patients.
  • Be able to travel to Hallam Street Hospital (travel expenses reimbursed).

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification recognised by CIMPSA.
  • Male only applicants.
  • Reliable commitment to a regular volunteer schedule.
  • Reside in the Black Country area within a reasonable travel distance.
  • Over 18 years of age.
  • Friendly and welcoming, with good communication and rapport-building skills.
  • Able to follow confidentiality policy and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Enthusiastic and keen to improve patients’ experiences and wellbeing.
  • Proficient with basic computer skills (email, databases, other software).
  • Will undergo a Standard or Enhanced DBS check as required.
