VAT Accountant - Nottingham

The Finance & Tax team is recruiting an experienced VAT Accountant to join their Nottingham office. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of a global organization committed to professional growth and a supportive work environment. The VAT Accountant will support UK VAT compliance, prepare the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Group, and assist with other related business lines. This position is ideal for career progression within a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Groups.
  2. Extract and verify data from various IT applications, analyzing transactions according to UK VAT rules.
  3. Perform transactional reviews following internal SOPs and HMRC VAT guidance.
  4. Support the UK Tax team with international VAT compliance and contribute to process improvements and system updates.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • ACA (or equivalent) or CTA (part or fully) qualified tax professional.
  • Qualified to CCAB or ATT.
  • Experience working in a complex international group with various VAT recoverable rates.
  • Experience in producing UK and international VAT returns.
  • Strong knowledge of current UK and international VAT legislation.
  • Experience with VAT software like Alpha VAT is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in data manipulation from multiple sources.
  • Advanced Excel skills are desirable.
  • Highly organized with good time management skills.
  • Positive attitude, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
