Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of all aspects of the Transport function.
  • Take ownership for the efficient, safe and cost-effective running of Group Transport.
  • Maintain compliance with all Company HSEQ Policies and Procedures.
  • Budgetary control for certain areas of the business.
  • Develop processes and procedures to identify and communicate risks.
  • Organise vehicle maintenance and liaise with sub-contractors.
  • Monitor daily vehicle inspections and defect reporting.
  • Arrange and coordinate transport audits.
  • Work as a key member of the senior management team.
  • Grow and support the training of your team.
  • Investigate road traffic issues and breaches of Operating License.

Summary

Oversee the management of all aspects of the Transport function of JMAC Group. Managing a large fleet and ensuring we comply with the obligations laid out and expected of the DVSA and Traffic Commissioner, to ensure we maintain our Operators License.

Work closely with the Yard Management Teams for JMAC Industrial & Access Group and JMAC Hire & Sales, developing and aiding them to promote a culture of continual improvement with service excellence at the core of the function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership for the efficient, safe and cost-effective running of Group Transport & Transport Compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with all Company HSEQ Policies and Procedures at all times including NASC accreditation for the yards.
  • Budgetary control for certain areas of the business (Transport repairs, internal and external transport costs etc.).
  • Develop processes and procedures to identify and communicate conduct risks to Senior Management.
  • Organise and update vehicle maintenance planners, liaise with vehicle maintenance sub-contractors for efficient repair and servicing of the fleet.
  • Weekly download of all data from HGV s header units and driver cards, management of daily driving hours.
  • Monitor daily vehicle inspections/defect reporting procedures for all drivers and fleet including vehicle cleanliness, risk assess vehicle defected identified prior to leaving the yard.
  • Ensure scaffold yard carry out daily and weekly truck/FLT audits and update the company CRM and spreadsheets with vehicle data.
  • Arrange and co-ordinate transport audits working in collaboration with the HSEQ department and Chief Operating Officer.
  • Maintain a well-organized and safe premises, working in collaboration with HSEQ department and management team.
  • Work as a key member of the senior management team and partake in meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Grow your team and support with their training and development to meet the needs of the business.
  • Maintain compliance with all company HSEQ Policies & Procedures at all times. Ensure Cameramatics software is embedded within the business and use this to do weekly reports on all transport.
  • Maintain a well-organized and safe premises, working in collaboration with HSEQ team and key stakeholders of the business
  • Ensure all drivers working in the department have all signed and understand the relevant risk assessments and method statements for their given tasks, ensure all operatives has the minimum qualifications to work in the Transport team.
  • Organise RHA audits and lead this from an JMAC point of view - ensuring that we are working in line with DVSA regulations.
  • Investigate and lead and road traffic issues, breaches of Operating License to ensure this is always maintained.
