Job summary

The organisation is a large, publicly listed technology-led consumer business seeking an experienced tax professional to own the Group’s tax position across European jurisdictions. You will partner with Finance, HR, Legal and Treasury to ensure robust tax governance and compliance.

You’ll report to the Head of Group Tax, manage VAT and corporate tax across Europe, drive process improvements, and mentor a junior team member in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified tax/accounting professional with breadth across in-house and/or practice-based tax work.
• Experience preparing corporation tax returns and audit provisions at group level.
• Experience multi-jurisdiction compliance across corporation tax, VAT and employment taxes.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end tax compliance across multiple European entities, including corporation tax and VAT.
• Manage tax accounting: statutory disclosures, group tax provisions, and tax postings in finance systems.
• Lead budgeting/forecasting for corporate tax, cash tax planning, with Finance and Treasury.
• Oversee UK and EU VAT filings and manage transfer pricing activities and intercompany invoicing.
• Drive process improvements and automation within the tax function and upskill the team.
• Maintain tax governance and audit readiness.
• Mentor a junior tax team member.

Job description

A large, publicly listed technology-led consumer business with international scale, operating across the UK and several European markets. The organisation is investing heavily in building out an internal finance and tax capability as it moves away from historic reliance on outsourced providers.

The Opportunity

You’ll report to the Head of Group Tax and take end-to-end ownership of the Group’s tax position across several European jurisdictions, partnering closely with Finance, HR, Legal and Treasury.

What you’ll be doing

• Owning tax compliance across multiple European entities, corporation tax, VAT.
• Running tax accounting from end to end: statutory account disclosures, group audit tax provisions, and posting tax entries through the group’s finance systems
• Building and refining the corporation tax budgeting/forecasting cycle, including instalment payments and cash tax planning, working alongside Finance and Treasury
• Overseeing UK and EU VAT filings (digital tax-compliant software) and managing transfer pricing operations, including intercompany agreements and invoicing
• Driving process improvement and automation across the tax function, and upskilling the wider team
• Owning tax governance and risk documentation, keeping the function audit-ready
• Mentoring a junior tax team member as part of their professional development

What we’re looking for

• A qualified tax/accounting professional (ACA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent), with solid breadth across in-house and/or practice-based tax work
• Track record preparing corporation tax returns and audit provisions at a group level
• Multi-jurisdiction compliance experience spanning corporation tax, VAT and employment taxes

Location/Working Pattern: Hybrid, 2-3 days a week in the London office
