Job summary

Michael Page is hiring a Group Tax Manager to oversee tax compliance and provide strategic tax advice for a large not-for-profit organisation in the UK.

You will manage VAT, corporation tax, and other returns, work with HMRC, and lead tax reporting and policy improvements.

Hybrid role in Greater Manchester with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Professional tax or accountancy qualification (CTA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent) required.
  • Strong knowledge of UK tax laws, especially VAT and corporation tax.
  • Proven track record in tax compliance and strategic tax advice.
  • Experience in not-for-profit sector is advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage VAT, Corporation Tax, CIS, Gift Aid and Employment Tax returns and ensure UK compliance.
  • Provide tax advice and assess the impact of business decisions from a tax perspective.
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders, external advisers and HMRC.
  • Keep up to date with tax and accounting legislation and advise on business impact.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Support wider business with tax and technical accounting queries and new initiatives.
  • Act as main point of contact for HMRC and manage related correspondence.
  • Assist with tax reporting and year-end accounting requirements.
  • Strengthen financial controls and drive process improvements across the finance function.
  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, resolving issues.
  • Help develop and implement finance policies and procedures with changing regulations.
  • Enhance the use of finance systems and reporting capabilities.
  • Lead on tax consultations and provide technical guidance across the organisation.

Profile
  • Professional tax or accountancy qualification essential (e.g., CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of UK tax laws, particularly VAT and corporate tax regulations.
  • Proven track record in managing tax compliance and providing strategic tax advice.
  • Experience working within the not-for-profit sector would be advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
Job Offer
  • Salary of £75,000 - £80,000, dependent on the level of experience.
  • 25 days annual leave.
