Job description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to partner with Menzies Aviation to appoint a Group Tax Advisor.

But at the heart of the business is its people.

The individual will be a key member of the Menzies Group Tax team working on the tax accounting, advisory and compliance for a multinational group operating in 65 countries. Important parts of the role will be having responsibility for reviewing and challenging the consolidation of current and deferred tax provisions, supporting with the group’s transfer pricing documentation, country‑by‑country reporting, pillar 2 compliance as well as inputting into tax aspects of wider business activities.

Upon joining, the Group Tax Advisor will report to the Head of Tax & Internal Audit on an interim basis. Following the return of the Group Tax Manager from maternity leave, reporting responsibilities will transition to the Group Tax Manager.

Main Accountabilities:
  • Working alongside the UK Tax Adviser and the Group Tax Manager to review, challenge and calculate group provisions for the current and deferred tax accounting positions which form part of the submission to Agility as part of the group annual report
  • Review the group’s quarterly accounting positions and group reporting, as well as tax forecasts on a regular basis and assisting with the tax aspects of financial reporting to our stakeholders
  • Preparation of the group’s transfer pricing documentation, supporting local finance teams to ensure compliance with local documentation requirements, obtaining benchmarking where required
  • Monitoring compliance with country‑by‑country reporting and pillar two registration, reporting and payment requirements across the group
  • Supporting with monitoring of tax governance, controls and procedures across the Menzies group
  • Advising on tax aspects of transactions, investments, acquisitions, disposals and restructurings, as well as inputting into tax aspects of ongoing business activities, undertaking tax technical research and analysis as required.
Qualifications, Competencies & Experience:
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Experience at senior associate / assistant manager grade of supporting with corporate tax advisory work
  • Tax accounting experience
  • Fully qualified accountant and / or tax adviser preferred
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate confidently at all levels across the group and work collaboratively as part of a team
  • High levels of drive and initiative with the ability to problem solve, think analytically and challenge current practice
  • Good organisational skills including the ability to effectively identify deadlines and prioritise work
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Understanding of tax governance processes that impact a large multi‑national group
  • Experience in preparing, or advising on the preparation of, transfer pricing documentation and country‑by‑country reports
