An important charity organization is seeking a Group Support Volunteer who will assist people affected by dementia in a welcoming environment. Responsibilities include providing support during activities, encouraging socialization, and ensuring comfort for attendees. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills, empathy, and a willingness to learn about dementia. This role is vital in helping those affected by dementia connect and enjoy meaningful social interactions.

As a Group Support Volunteer, you’ll support and encourage people affected by dementia to engage in activities and socialise with others in a group setting. A friendly face at the group, you’ll welcome and talk to people affected by dementia to help them feel comfortable and make sure they’re offered refreshments. You’ll also help set up and tidy away at the end of the group.
Your involvement in this role will ensure people affected by dementia are able to meet others in a similar situation, access the support and information they need and enjoy meaningful activities.
Venue: Horsham District Indoor Bowls club, Wickhurst Lane, Broadbridge Heath, RH12 3YS
Group meets twice a month on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 11.30am to 1pm
Some knowledge of indoor bowls and dementia desirable but not essential, as training given.
Horsham Bowls Activity Group is a place where both carer and person with dementia come to play bowls, either indoor or short mat, with the support of a group facilitator and volunteer team. Its a place where the emphasis is on fun and meeting people who are in a similar situation.
