Job summary

Octopus Energy is looking for a Finance Analyst to join our Strategic Finance team to support rapid growth in the UK and internationally. You will build and manage financial models, prepare reports, and assist strategic decisions, including capital structure management and investor relations.

This role provides exposure to complex financial models and performance, including board materials and lender Q&A, with collaboration across CFO and senior leadership to drive organisational value.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in FP&A or corporate finance and building/maintaining financial models.
• 3-statement financial modelling (P&L, BS, CFS) and advanced Excel skills.
• Familiarity with financial reporting and month-end processes.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data.
• Experience or exposure to board and investor reporting and financial presentations.
• Ability to summarise and present financial/strategic information to senior stakeholders.
• Knowledge of capital structure and fundraising processes is a plus.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and maintenance of financial models across the Group and multiple entities.
• Coordinate annual budget preparation with the strategic finance team and Group finance.
• Assist CFO in evaluating growth opportunities and capital allocation decisions.
• Provide financial outlooks and support month-end reporting and investor Q&A prep.
• Summarise monthly group financials and prepare board materials.

We are looking for an Finance Analyst to join our Strategic Finance team to support the exponential growth of our business in the UK and internationally.

You will play a key role in building and managing financial models, preparing financial reports, and assist in strategic decision-making processes.

This role will give you exposure to complex financial models and performance, including capital structure management, board and investor engagement, and financial reporting.

What you'll do...

• Lead on the development and maintenance of near-term and long-term financial models across the Group, assimilating entity-level models spanning four business units, two dozen-plus entities and over a dozen active country presences into Group-level outputs.

• Coordinate annual budget preparation across the strategic finance team and broader entity finance throughout the Group.

• Support the CFO to identify and manage economic trade-offs across the business (growth, returns, liquidity) through capital allocation process, including evaluating impact of new lines of business (products, services) and other investments.

• Provision of financial outlooks for the business at month end and some elements of month end reporting and analysis, including strategic overlay; support Group CFO with investor relations Q&A preparation.

• Curate, effectively summarize and convey monthly financial and other strategic material for the Group, including ad hoc investor relations requests and quarterly board content.

• Support debt and equity funding and other projects that affect capital structure / allocation and financial risk, including work streams such as information memorandum preparation and due diligence. Help prepare financial reports and assist in lender Q&A to support ongoing bank relationships.

• Help manage monthly and ad hoc Group guarantees, LC issuance and capital allocation processes to subsidiaries and evaluate business cases for new requests/investments.

What you'll need...

• 2+ years of experience or knowledge in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and / or corporate finance, including building and maintaining financial models

• 3-statement financial modelling (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow interconnections) and epic Excel skills

• Familiarity with financial reporting and month-end processes (accounting degree not required).

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and interpret complex data.

• Experience or exposure to board and investor reporting and financial presentations

• The ability to summarise and present effectively to senior internal and external stakeholders financial and strategic information about the group or parts of it

• Knowledge of capital structure and fundraising processes is a plus.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment - no day is the same here!
