Group Staff Accountant (15-Month Fixed Term Contract - Maternity Cover)

Location: London, UK

Reports To: Group Finance Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Group Staff Accountant to join our global finance team on a 15-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This role is pivotal in maintaining accurate financial records for our head office entities and group holding companies, ensuring compliance and supporting key stakeholders across the business.

What You'll Do
  • Month-End Close: Prepare and post recurring journal entries, perform monthly closing procedures, and review cost centres and ledgers for accruals.
  • Reconciliations & Analysis: Complete balance sheet reconciliations and conduct analytical reviews of income statement and balance sheet items.
  • Intercompany Transactions: Partner with subsidiary accounting teams to record intercompany transactions and reconcile balances.
  • Accounts Payable & Payroll: Collaborate with AP and payroll teams to ensure accurate coding and recording of payments and employee costs.
  • Treasury Support: Assist Group Treasury with cash management and intercompany payments.
  • Reporting & Audit: Prepare cost centre analysis for budget holders, liaise with external auditors, and support annual tax return preparation.
  • Projects: Contribute to finance projects and process improvements as needed.

  • Timely and accurate month-end and year-end close.
  • High-quality deliverables that withstand external audit scrutiny.
  • Strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience: 1-3 years of accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or group environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Working knowledge of monthly close processes and IFRS.
    • Familiarity with financial systems (Workday ERP experience preferred).
    • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bonus: Exposure to cash operations and intercompany accounting.
