Malvern Panalytical seeks a Group Product Manager to lead the global Particle Analyzer portfolio. You will define long-term strategy, translate market needs into compelling roadmaps, and drive growth with R&D, Commercial, and Operations teams.

You will own portfolio performance, build business cases, and lead cross‑functional governance to align investments with company objectives, while representing the business at industry events globally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, materials science, life sciences or another relevant scientific discipline.
• Significant experience in product management, marketing, business leadership, or related roles within scientific instrumentation or high-technology industries.
• Proven success managing global product portfolios with substantial commercial responsibility.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including forecasting and portfolio performance management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the long-term strategic roadmap for the Particle Analyzer product portfolio.
• Define portfolio priorities based on customer insights, market trends, and business objectives.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Group Product Manager to lead our global Particle Analyzer product portfolio. Reporting directly to the GM / VP of the Particle & Biophysical Product Line, you will be accountable for defining and executing long-term product strategy, driving sustainable portfolio growth, and delivering customer-focused innovation across one of our most important technology platforms.

As the business owner for the Particle Analyzer portfolio, you will translate market opportunities, customer needs, and technological advancements into compelling product roadmaps that strengthen market leadership and create long-term value. Working closely with R&D, Commercial, Applications, Operations, Service, and regional leadership teams, you will ensure innovation investments are aligned with customer requirements and business objectives.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced product management professional with strong commercial acumen, strategic vision, and a passion for bringing innovative scientific instrumentation solutions to market.

What you'll be doing

• Develop and execute the long-term strategic roadmap for the Particle Analyzer product portfolio
• Define portfolio priorities based on customer insights, market trends, competitive intelligence, and business objectives
• Drive portfolio decisions related to new product development, product enhancements, lifecycle management, and portfolio optimization
• Own portfolio performance and support P&L management in partnership with business leadership
• Build robust business cases and establish investment priorities for future product development initiatives
• Define product requirements and market needs for R&D development programmes
• Partner with regional commercial teams to develop go‑to‑market strategies and successful product launches
• Establish value propositions, positioning strategies, pricing frameworks, and competitive differentiation
• Support strategic customer engagements and represent the business at industry conferences and customer events globally
• Collaborate closely with R&D, Marketing, Applications, Service, and Operations teams to align innovation and business goals
• Lead portfolio governance activities, stage‑gate reviews, and long‑range strategic planning processes
• Monitor portfolio performance, market dynamics, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risks
• Influence and lead global cross‑functional teams within a matrix organisation to deliver business objectives

About you

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Life Sciences, or another relevant scientific discipline
• Significant experience in product management, marketing, business leadership, or related roles within scientific instrumentation, analytical technologies, laboratory equipment, diagnostics, or similar high‑technology industries
• Proven success managing global product portfolios with substantial commercial responsibility.
• Strong experience developing and commercializing innovative products within complex technical environments
• Deep understanding of market‑driven product management, portfolio strategy, and lifecycle management
• Demonstrated ability to build strategic product roadmaps and investment cases
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including forecasting, business planning, and portfolio performance management
• Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and leadership skills
• Outstanding communication and presentation abilities, with experience engaging senior leaders and customers globally
• Experience working across global, matrixed organizations
• Master’s degree and/or MBA would be advantageous
