Job summary

M&G is seeking a data-driven financial crime professional to strengthen the Group's risk management framework. You will own the KRI framework, monitor metrics, and report to risk committees while collaborating with Risk, Compliance, and Technology teams.

The role offers exposure to AML, sanctions, fraud and customer due diligence, plus opportunities to shape data governance and automated reporting solutions across a global organisation. Flexible working is available.

This is an excellent opportunity for a financial crime, risk or data analytics professional to play a central role in strengthening the Group’s financial crime risk management framework through data-driven oversight and reporting. The role sits within the 2LoD Global Financial Crime Compliance PRAGMA team (Policy, Reporting, Analytics, Governance, Methodologies and Awareness), providing exposure to senior stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Business Units and Technology. The successful candidate will take ownership of the Group financial crime Key Risk Indicator (KRI) framework, helping to define, monitor and report key financial crime risk metrics that support risk appetite monitoring, governance and decision-making across the organisation.

The role offers significant breadth and visibility across all major financial crime risk disciplines, including AML, sanctions, fraud, anti-bribery and corruption, and customer due diligence. Beyond KRI oversight, the position provides the opportunity to shape the quality, integrity and effectiveness of financial crime management information, working closely with Business Units and technology teams to enhance data governance, strengthen controls and implement automated reporting solutions.

It is ideally suited to an individual who enjoys combining financial crime expertise with data analytics, technology-enabled transformation and stakeholder engagement, while driving continuous improvement across a complex global organisation. This highly collaborative role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the effectiveness of financial crime risk management, reporting and compliance culture across the Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce and maintain the M&G Group framework for financial crime Key Risk Indicators ("KRIs") and risk tolerances.
  • Define financial crime KRIs to enable risk appetite statement monitoring tolerances.
  • Monitor financial crime KRIs and execute reporting of financial crime KRI tolerances.
  • Respond to financial crime data related queries raised by Business Unit 1LoD and 2LoD teams, including those relating to data inaccuracies, issues, control gaps, or other data-related queries.
  • Raise data inaccuracies, issues, control gaps identified with Business Unit 1LoD, 2LoD financial crime teams and work with them to resolve the noted issues.
  • Coordinate with CITO to maintain the data infrastructure to host and process Group financial crime Management Information and ensure fit for purpose.
  • Coordinate with CITO to develop, test, document and implement automated solutions to enhance existing financial crime processes and controls.
  • Perform investigations related data and analytics activities, such as client data scanning, search queries and fraud analytics.
  • Conduct data quality/integrity tests to ensure accuracy of financial crime management information.
  • Communicate M&G Group framework for financial crime KRIS and risk tolerances and expectations associated with data quality and integrity effectively across the organisation.
  • Identify training requirements as a result of changes to financial crime key risk indicators or from findings from data quality/integrity testing activities.
  • Build collaborative relationships with other Group Risk and Compliance stakeholders as well as local 2LoD financial crime teams to enhance risk management and compliance culture.
  • Enhance the GFCC MI reporting suite, including dashboard governance, change management, issue resolution and periodic reviews to ensure reporting remains fit for purpose.
  • Oversee data validation and control frameworks to ensure the accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial crime management information across reporting processes and systems.
  • Other tasks and activities within the scope of your role or team as required from time to time.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Strong financial crime data and risk management expertise, including the development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), risk appetite metrics, risk tolerances, management information (MI), and data-driven oversight across AML, sanctions, fraud, anti‑bribery and corruption, and customer due diligence frameworks.
  • Proven experience in financial crime data analytics, reporting and data governance, including conducting data quality and integrity testing, investigating data issues, analysing trends and risk indicators, performing client and transaction data reviews, and producing insightful management reporting for senior stakeholders and governance committees.
  • Strong technical and process improvement capabilities, with experience working alongside technology and data teams to develop, test, document and implement automated solutions, maintain financial crime data infrastructure, enhance controls, and improve the accuracy, efficiency and scalability of financial crime monitoring and reporting processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across first and second lines of defence, challenge and resolve data quality issues, communicate KRI frameworks and risk tolerance expectations, identify training needs, and foster a strong risk and compliance culture across multiple business units and functions.
  • Strong technical capability and process improvement expertise, with experience partnering with technology and data teams to develop, test, document and implement automated solutions, maintain financial crime data infrastructure, strengthen controls, and enhance the accuracy, efficiency and scalability of financial crime monitoring and reporting. Proven proficiency in Power BI, SQL, Databricks (or equivalent), JIRA, data modelling, ETL processes, reporting architecture, automation and business intelligence solutions.
