Overview

Permanent, full-time role in a not-for-profit organisation going through an exciting transformation. This is a NFP environment with a collaborative and supportive working culture.

Job Description

You will oversee financial accounting, statutory reporting, and compliance. You will lead a high-performing team, strengthen financial controls, and drive automation and digital transformation to enhance efficiency and insight. You will be a strategic business partner across the organisation — supporting projects, shaping financial strategy and ensuring the organisation remains financially resilient and future-ready.

Financial Leadership & Transformation - Through championing the organisation’s values, you will lead continuous improvement in the finance control function and support delivery of the rolling three-year financial strategy. You will drive efficiency through digital tools, automation, and streamlined processes.

Technical & Regulatory Excellence - You will lead month-end close, statutory accounts preparation, and maintain our compliance with accounting, tax and audit standards. You will be the senior subject matter expert on VAT, pensions and regulatory reporting.

Reporting & Insight - Deliver timely, accurate financial statements and management information, and provide meaningful insight to improve data use, reporting transparency, decision-making and operational performance.

Stakeholder Management - Build trusted relationships with auditors, pension advisers, insurers, banks and regulators. Act as a key business partner with internal stakeholders to ensure sound financial decisions.

Risk & Governance - Uphold robust internal controls, lead audits, manage compliance and support organisational fraud prevention.

Leadership & Development - Empower your team through inspiration, coaching and development to deliver excellence and foster a culture of learning, accountability and innovation.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Group Financial Controller should have:

  • Professional qualifications in accounting, such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management within the not-for-profit industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial compliance and reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and tools to streamline operations.
