Job summary

A leading manufacturing group in Manchester is seeking a Group Financial Controller to drive transformation and growth. Job Description

This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created Group Financial Controller role at the centre of a fast‑growing, PE‑backed manufacturing group. Working closely with the Finance Director and Managing Director, you’ll bring financial rigour, sharpen performance and play a key role in driving the next stage of value creation.

Established in the 1950s, the business has been a cornerstone employer in the area for decades. With recent private equity investment secured, they’re now entering a major phase of transformation and growth. The role is based in Clayton (M11), offering ample on‑site parking, strong public transport links, and easy access to the M60.

Key responsibilities
  • Produce monthly management accounts with clear, board‑ready commentary.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and groupwide cashflow planning.
  • Manage and develop a 6‑strong finance team.
  • Oversee cashflow, including rolling 13‑week forecasting and covenant compliance.
  • Strengthen controls, processes and financial systems.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers and external partners.
  • Provide commercial insight across pricing, margin, stock and cost analysis using Excel and BI tools.
  • Drive improvements in margin, cash generation and operational performance.
Key Requirements
  • Fully ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
  • Private equity experience
  • Background in manufacturing, FMCG or distribution preferred.
  • Comfortable operating at board level.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • MS Dynamics experience preferred but not essential.
