Job description

SEC Newgate Group is an international strategic communications and advocacy firm based in Italy. With over 1,300 professionals across more than 60 offices on five continents, the Group provides clients with research-driven advice to enhance reputation and business results at local, national, and global levels.

This role is part of the UK-based accounting function of SEC Newgate Group. Based in London, the Group Finance Team is a small team that serves as the central point for the Group's consolidated financial reporting:

Duties and responsibilities
  • Responsible for the review of subsidiary management accounts and delivery (along with the team) of the consolidated monthly management accounts and board reports;
  • Contributes to the preparation of year end Annual Report and Financial Statements and UK corporation tax computations;
  • Support the preparation and review of Group company budgets and forecasts and consolidation of underlying subsidiary budgets and forecasts;
  • Providing IFRS technical advice and set accounting approach (along with discussions with team members, auditors and advisors) for the Group and any acquisitions that might occur in the future;
  • Working alongside company secretarial, tax advisors and auditors, as applicable;
  • Liaise with finance team contacts of subsidiary companies to deliver tasks as per the timetable and provide support as required; and
  • System support - we have recently implemented a new consolidation system, the successful candidate will therefore be involved in introducing new accounting procedures to improve accuracy and controls.
Experience and qualifications
  • Part and qualified CA/ACA/ACCA;
  • Advanced at Excel skills;
  • Good working knowledge and application of IFRS (including awareness of more recent standards);
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Proactive approach - willingness to understand and suggest solutions to issues;
  • Strong organisational skills with courage in their convictions;
  • Previous exposure to corporate tax calculations would be beneficial; and
  • Not afraid of a challenge but also willing to roll up their sleeves when some of the more mundane tasks (but still requiring technical nous) need to be done;
