Group Accounting Manager

Leicester (hybrid working)

Lead the Group Management Accounting team and take responsibility for the balance sheet of Bellrock Group and its subsidiaries. You will ensure the financial control framework and systems are followed in line with company policies and challenge the business partners to maintain compliance. You will own the month end actuals close process, ensure all tasks are completed and drive process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Key responsibilities
  • Reviewing reconciliations of Bellrock Balance Sheet accounts completed by the team and Business Partner teams. Complete the reconciliations on more complex accounting areas, including investments.
  • Take ownership over resolving reconciling items and highlight to the Head of group accounting and reporting, all risks and opportunities highlighted in the reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policy and standards. Including in complex areas such as IFRS 15 revenue recognition and IFRS 16 leases.
  • Ensuring no financial surprises due to unsupported balances on the balance sheet.
  • Review month end journals for group consolidation entries and the SPCs.
  • Support in the preparation of statutory financial statements (SPC and other non-audited companies) and other external reporting (e.g. ONS).
  • SPC monthly management accounts and monthly review meeting with SPC director
  • Support on the processing of payments in banking systems.
  • Oversee the CIS tax process, including resolving supplier queries.
  • Ad-hoc queries as required by the Head of group accounting and reporting
  • Highlight and deliver process improvements to improve the team’s efficiency and impact.
  • Supporting the development of the management accountants in the team, including through their accounting qualifications and in work development.
Skills & experience
  • The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant ACA, CIMA or ACCA, or have significant finance experience.
  • Comfortable leading and motivating a small finance team, being hands on and balancing workload across the team.
  • Enthusiastic, driven and self-motivated. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Resilient and cash focussed. Confident and comfortable dealing with multiple stakeholders.
  • Reliability - responsible and dependable. Take ownership of your work and the work of your team.
  • Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise the team's workload.
  • Team player - works as part of a team to achieve a common goal.
  • Attention to detail - job requires being accurate in interpreting and challenging data
