Job summary

Clearfield Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Groundworks Site Manager to lead day-to-day management of groundworks on residential developments across Essex & Suffolk. You will drive safe, efficient delivery, manage subcontractors, and ensure works meet programme and quality standards.

Key requirements include 5+ years in groundworks, strong H&S knowledge, and valid CSCS/SMSTS. You will coordinate with site teams to maintain progress and deliver snag-free handovers.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years proven experience as a Groundworks Site Manager.
• Knowledge of groundworks delivery in residential environments.
• Strong understanding of H&S, RAMS/COSHH, permit-to-work processes.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings/specifications and install to tolerances.
• Excellent leadership and communication with subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Valid CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid essential.
• Referenceable experience managing groundworks packages of similar scope.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate groundworks operations across the development.
• Ensure works are safe, compliant with CDM, site rules, and H&S procedures.
• Manage and schedule subcontractors and labour to meet programme.
• Maintain quality control on compaction, levels, concrete/pipework standards.
• Monitor progress against programme and report risks and milestones.
• Coordinate with site teams (civils, structures, utilities, contractors).
• Support snagging/defects and ensure handover documentation is completed.

Our client is currently seeking an experienced Groundworks Site Manager to lead the day-to-day management of groundworks packages on residential developments across Essex & Suffolk. This role is ideal for someone who can drive safe, efficient delivery, manage subcontractors effectively, and ensure works are completed to programme and quality standards.

Duties

• Oversee and coordinate groundworks operations across the development (e.g., enabling works, drainage, foundations/kerbs, levels, earthworks package scope to be confirmed)
• Ensure works are carried out safely, in full compliance with CDM, site rules, and company H&S procedures
• Manage and schedule subcontractors and labour, ensuring manpower and plant are available to meet programme
• Maintain strong quality control (compaction, setting out checks, levels, concrete/pipework standards, reinstatement)
• Monitor progress against programme and report updates, risks, and mitigation actions
• Coordinate with other site teams (site management, civils, structures, utilities, contractors)
• Support snagging/defects management as required and ensure handover documentation is completed
