Qualifications

  • Clean current driving licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep and clean external areas using mechanical sweepers.
  • Empty litter bins and pick litter across the site.
  • General tidying and waste collection duties as required.

The destination you should input is M13 9WL Please take the time to read the attached job description Join our dedicated team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust as a Grounds Maintenance Operative. Based at the Central Site, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of our grounds across multiple properties. This dynamic position offers variety and responsibility, including providing cover during holidays, sickness, and other absences for the Waste Collection and Recycling Team. Be part of a professional team committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and environmentally sustainable environment for staff, patients, and visitors alike.

What You’ll Do:
  • Sweeping and cleaning of all external areas using mechanical sweepers and hand equipment as required
  • Litter picking across all areas of the site on a programmed basis
  • Emptying of litter bins on a programmed basis
  • General tidying of garden areas on an ad hoc basis
  • Waste collection duties as required
  • Power washing of equipment, compactors, and paths
  • Gritting of roads, paths, and car parks in inclement weather
  • Replenishment of grit bins across the site
  • Familiarity with and compliance with Health and Safety requirements and other guidance covering the duties of the post
  • Work overtime at the request of management to undertake urgent work
  • Any other reasonable requests made by the Environmental Team Leader or a Management Officer
What You Bring:
  • Ability to use, with appropriate training, mechanical sweepers and mechanised waste handling equipment
  • Ability to drive, with appropriate training, electric tow tugs
  • A high degree of flexibility due to the varied nature of duties
  • Smart appearance and pleasant disposition, as the post involves extensive contact with staff and the public
  • A high degree of self motivation
  • Good informal communication skills
  • A clean current driving licence
