Job summary

Leicester City Council is seeking a skilled Parks and Open Spaces supervisor to lead a team of Craft Gardeners across the city. The post combines hands-on horticulture with people management, maintaining parks, housing land, highways and other green infrastructure while driving team performance.

The role is permanent, 37 hours per week, in all weathers, with substantial experience in horticulture and a valid UK driving licence.

• Substantial previous experience in horticulture or groundsmanship.
• Experience using specialist equipment.
• Experience applying pesticides.

• Manage a dedicated team of Craft Gardeners
• Carry out high quality horticultural and grounds maintenance work
• Operate and maintain hand and mechanical specialist equipment
• Prepare and apply chemicals such as herbicides, fungicides and insecticides
• Help keep green infrastructure free of barriers to access, including horticultural features and hard landscape features such as buildings
• Advise and support customers using council facilities
• Lead the team by providing expert advice, guidance and support
