Overview

Title: Grounds Maintenance Operative

Requisition ID: 8855

We are excited to offer a permanent Grounds Maintenance Operative in HMP Cardiff, Knox Rd, Cardiff CF24 0UG.

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week (shift pattern Monday to Friday 08:00am to 17:00pm).

Join our vibrant, inclusive community in Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account working on Facilities Management, delivering critical services for prisons that make a real positive impact across the UK.

At Amey, we\'re supporting our justice client, His Majesty\'s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons. By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• General maintenance, such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, clearing leaves and litter, verges, weed spraying, tree care, horticulture activities such as planting, pruning and seeding.
• Erect and dismantle equipment, operating light plant and power tools, undertake cutting equipment checks.
• Setting out, making sports pitches including grass and tarmac with upkeep of artificial, synthetic pitches in recreational areas.
• Painting sundry equipment.
• Drainage works.

Qualifications

• Comfortable working alongside prisoners.
• Understanding of Health and Safety Legislation.
• Full driving licence.
• Weed spraying certificate.
• Qualified in the use of grounds maintenance machinery including Chainsaw Wind Blown Trees (CS 34) CS30/CS31 and Chainsaw maintenance and Cross Cut.
• Knowledge and experience of gardening, horticulture operations and grounds maintenance type duties.
• Experience in operating light plant and equipment and wheeled tractors.
