Job summary

Airbus Defence and Space Limited seeks a Ground System Security Design Engineer at Corsham to safeguard Spacecraft Control Centre Systems and satellite communications. You will lead end-to-end security architecture efforts, manage complex risks, and drive protection strategies in a highly secure environment.

You will apply expertise across Solaris/Linux/Windows, Cisco networks, and JSP440, coordinating with cross-functional teams to keep defenses ahead of evolving threats.

Qualifications

• CISSP and CISM accreditations are required or strongly preferred.
• Proven experience working in a secure environment.
• Solid knowledge of Solaris, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
• Strong understanding of Cisco networking and JSP440 guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end cyber security support to projects.
• Analyze functional needs, determine criticality, propose protection concepts, and manage project risks.
• Maintain knowledge of standards, governance, and best practices across disciplines.
• Coordinate activities to fit the overall security architecture and Airbus processes.
• Apply knowledge of Spacecraft Control Centre Systems to ensure robust protection.
• Secure Satellite Communications data streams and protect critical infrastructures.

Role Overview

Step into a role where your cyber security expertise directly safeguards the future of aerospace and satellite technology. At our Airbus Defence and Space site in Corsham, we are seeking a highly credentialed Ground System Security Design Engineer to provide end-to-end protection for our critical Spacecraft Control Centre Systems and Satellite Communications infrastructures. Reporting to the Head of SCOF Engineering you will play a pivotal role in managing high‑stakes security architecture and ensuring our defenses remain ahead of evolving threats.

How you will contribute to the team

As a key player in our security infrastructure, you will take ownership of complex risks and coordinate comprehensive defense strategies. In this role, you will:

• Provide end-to-end support to projects with regards to cyber security.
• Analyze functional needs, establish associated criticality levels, propose appropriate security protection concepts, and project and manage risks for the project.
• Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of standards, regulation, governance, and best practices across specified disciplines.
• Manage end-to-end projects, tasks, and deliverables in accordance with Airbus Business Processes.
• Ensure the activity of all actors and disciplines is coordinated and fits together in the overall security architecture.
• Leverage your knowledge and understanding of Spacecraft Control Centre Systems to ensure robust protection.
• Apply your knowledge of Satellite Communications infrastructures to secure critical data streams.
