Job Title: Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic

Location: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Netherlands

Employment Type: 1-Year Contract or Permanent

Working Hours: 38-hour contract (typically 40 hours/week), overtime available with required airport security clearance

Overview

My client, a global leader in Ground Support Equipment (GSE), is actively seeking qualified Mechanics with EU passports who are open to relocating to the Netherlands for a 1-year contract or permanent role.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced heavy vehicle technicians to enter the aviation sector and work in a high-profile international airport environment.

The Role

You will maintain and repair a wide range of airside support vehicles and equipment, including both diesel-powered and electric GSE.

Key Responsibilities
  • Routine servicing and inspections of GSE (loaders, stair trucks, towing vehicles)
  • Maintenance of electric airport vehicles and buses
  • Mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical fault‑finding and repair
  • Reading and working from technical diagrams and manuals
  • Responding to breakdowns and carrying out unscheduled maintenance
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Accurate service reporting and documentation
Ideal Candidate
  • Background in HGVs, buses, trucks, or heavy plant maintenance
  • Strong mechanical skills with knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Able to read and interpret technical schematics
  • Proactive, hands‑on, and comfortable in fast‑paced environments
  • GSE experience is a plus, but not essential
  • Must be eligible for airport security clearance in the Netherlands
  • Must have a good level of English (spoken and written)
  • Willing to work 40 hours per week with flexibility
Requirements
  • Recognised technical qualification in mechanics or automotive engineering
  • Full EU driver's licence
  • EU passport (essential for relocation and work clearance)
  • Immediate availability preferred
