Job summary

Waitrose & Partners in Hexham is seeking a Supermarket Assistant to provide Partner-led service and help food lovers with their shopping. You will assist with stock replenishment, online orders, and efficient shop operations, while delivering great customer experiences in a flexible, part-time role.

Closing date is 18 October 2026; hours include varied shifts between 12:00 and 18:00 across seven days. Pay starts at £13.00 per hour, rising to £13.25 after 90 days.

Qualifications

• Communication skills to enable you to work effectively as part of a team and with customers.
• Experience in a customer-facing role is welcomed.
• Up-to-date knowledge and interest in food and drink trends.
• Flexible approach to support the whole branch.

Responsibilities

• Stock replenishment - ensuring shelves are full and products are in the right place for customers.
• Fulfilling online customer orders ready for drivers to deliver to customers’ doors.
• Reducing wastage by following due diligence and marking down near sell-by dates.
• Working with the wider shop team to support checkout, Click & Collect, and other customer orders.
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment with general shopkeeping tasks.
