We are looking to recruit a Greenspace Liaison and Asset Compliance Officer to provide a proactive, consistent and customer‑focused service across the Council’s greenspace portfolio, including allotments, bowling greens, parks and open spaces.
The postholder will act as the primary face‑to‑face contact for allotment tenants, sports clubs and community groups while taking responsibility for structured inspections, safety checks and compliance across all environmental assets.
This role will strengthen operational oversight, ensure compliance with statutory requirements and promote positive relationships with the public and community stakeholders.
You will be an experienced and confident professional with a strong background in operational work, community‑facing services or public‑realm environments.
You will be proactive, organised and detail‑focused, with the ability to carry out structured inspections across parks, open spaces and environmental assets, accurately recording findings and ensuring timely follow‑up on remedial actions. A sound understanding of risk, safety requirements and compliance standards within greenspace environments will be essential.
The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical and organisational skills with practical experience of managing processes, maintaining accurate records and producing clear written reports. You must be confident in using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, email and databases and able to navigate digital inspection or record‑keeping systems effectively.
You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team, able to plan and prioritise your workload in a fast‑paced and varied environment. Your communication skills, both written and verbal, alongside excellent interpersonal skills, will enable you to engage positively with the public, support community stewardship and maintain constructive relationships with tenants, clubs and stakeholders.
You must also be capable of taking accurate minutes at meetings, handling information responsibly and maintaining confidentiality in line with Council procedures. A willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, travel across the borough and occasionally work outside normal office hours is essential.
Above all, you will bring professionalism, integrity and a customer‑focused approach to supporting the effective management, safety and continuous improvement of Bolton’s greenspaces.
